Happy Birthday Mary!

7 05 2009

My (Hannah’s) mom really really wants a Liquid Logic kayak. I really wish I could have afforded to buy one for her on her birthday. But I couldn’t. (Liquid Logic – you should sponsor her! I know she would really appreciate it.)

So instead, for her birthday, we made her a kayak cake! Or kayakake, as our new company will be called. Only $400 per cake (covering the cost of 4 people for 4 hours creating each cake.) Complete with chocolate paddle and chocolate goldfish.

The Kayak Cake pre-transport...we created the cake "mold" by forming one of those disposable aluminum pans into a kayak shape (that took a while and many opinions), lining it with wax paper and hoping for the best in the oven.

Mom loved her cake (presented before a short pond kayak!)

After the cake – we took a kayak around Half Moon Pond, using Sargent Camp’s boats (thanks to Robin, my brother, who worked there all year!)

The dam was surprisingly un-scary.
